As I suspected and admitted, the blog ended up a little pushed to the side with the start of sixth form and general 'back to normal' life. I'm glad to be back though, even if the posts are hugely infrequent and not as exciting as the summer ones, because let's face it... They will definitely struggle to live up to that!
I don't have that much to report really, which I know is strange since it's been probably about a month or something since I last wrote anything, but school is school. It's a big change, there are things I like, there are things I'm getting used to. I do have to keep reminding myself that it has been less than a month though, so I need to give myself time. On the plus-side, I'm enjoying wearing my own clothes (I can pack on as many layers as I want when it's cold and raining!) and wearing decent make-up is great. Before sixth form I wore the discreet make-up, foundation, concealer, the clear mascara (although I did venture into black and a bit of eyeliner during exams- thought I'd treat myself at such a stressful time :P) Now I'm enjoying the blue eyeliner and big lashes look, I love blue eyeliner. I tend to wear quite boring, dull coloured clothes so my eyeliner is where I add the colour.
Anyway, enough of my make-up babble, the real reason I came back to write a post is because it was my sister's 13th birthday yesterday- 21st September. I found myself taking some cool photos of things and it reminded me of my summer of taking ridiculously random photos for this and so I thought I might as well document them on here.
On Sunday I spent about three hours making Liv's birthday cake. I admit the design is something I stole from Pinterest and the actual cake is Betty Crocker chocolate cake, but I did bake it and decorate it myself! I know I shocked a lot of people with this cake, I am certainly not known as the baker of the family, let's put it that way. I was very pleased with how it turned out though and it was a lot of fun to make :). It has chocolate fingers around the outside, the honeycomb ones which are very yummy. The flowers are then made from big and small Milkybar buttons, big and small Cadbury milk chocolate buttons, Cadbury caramel nibbles and also some Minstrels. It's one big chocolate feast.
For her birthday Liv got some very lovely things, she's considerably richer than she was on Sunday, now has a home-made iPad stand courtesy of my mum, a Jack Wills hoodie, a rolling pin from me (it's a nice one and she did choose it!), she has a Pandora ring on the way from Nanny and she also has a stunning Kate Spade bag from Dad and Debbie. 'Jealous' is an understatement!! That is just the top of the pile of things LuckyLiv got for her birthday, a very nice stash indeed.

As a sidenote, Liv did have to spend most of Sunday on her own in her room while I made the cake and Mum sewed the iPad stand... but oh well, I'm sure she'd agree it was worth it in the end.

To eat I had the chicken skewers, Mum and Liv had the burger and Nanny had the sea-bass. And of course, to finish we had the birthday cake.
They bought the cake out to us as we awkwardly sang one of history's most awkward songs, although it's definitely worse being the one having 'Happy Birthday' sung to you...
The waitress was lovely about the cake and said she'd even taken a picture of it so she could try and recreate it- that was a massive compliment and I'm sure my cheeks rouged a tad.
The staff at Bill's were very kind and gave Liv a wrapped-up bottle of fancy apple juice as a little birthday gift- it was a sweet gesture. We had a really good evening there.
We then went to drop Nanny off at the pub where Grandad was, but we ended up staying for a drink too! Liv and I tried the 'light pink J2O' not being able to see what the flavour said, but that's probably a good thing as I think I would have been quite skeptical about trying a drink called 'Garden Rose'. It was much nicer than I expected though and less 'garden rose-like' than I assumed it would be.
That's about it for yesterday, except for my little bit of exciting news. I had my English Literature GCSE remarked and I got an email yesterday from my teacher saying that I had gone up to an A*! So that made me smile stupidly for a good half an hour. And of course, that's not because I have anything against an A, I was incredibly happy about that, but English was always my strongest subject so I feel like I've done myself justice now and achieved my English Lit potential :).
Right, I think that's about all for now. I don't know when I'll be back. Hopefully before my birthday at the end of October... but no guarantees.
I hope life is treating you well,
L
