Autumn Walk (Finally a photo of me on my blog!)

Hello everybody,

I hope you're having a good half-term if you have any time off, I'm certainly making the most of being able to wake up on the friendlier side of 9 o'clock!

My sister and I have just taken Maggie for a walk, a productive way to procrastinate doing all my homework ;). Hopefully I'll have it all done after today and tomorrow since I don't really want to be doing any on or after my birthday on Thursday.

I took my camera with me on our walk, I was hoping to take some nice Autumnal photos. By now my sister's used to me telling her to 'stand still', 'look over there', 'smile more!'. She's quote useful in aiding my photography hobby...

Here are a few of my favourite pics from this afternoon:

And now here, finally, is a picture of me on my blog! I think this is the first time I've actually posted a photo with me in it...

Sister love.
And I just had to include this video of the train. Every time Liv and I go for a walk we seem to miss the train by about a minute. We stand on the bridge for a few and then decide to carry on, then of course the train speeds under the bridge! However, we heard the horn and just managed to run back to the bridge in time, I had Maggie bouncing around in my arms and my camera swinging all over the place, but I did manage to peer over the side and wave in time.

(I hope you can see the video, even if it is only 3 seconds and of a train! I know there have been issues in the past with videos playing though...).

In response to our waving we got a nice musical tooting of the horn :).

I then took these photos of Liv and Maggie:

(I have played around with a black and white filter and cropped to size here.)

Finally, after spending nearly an hour on a 15 minute dog walk we made it home. I guess we sort of lost track of time... I love it when that happens.

Today has been a good day, fingers crossed it continues (even if I do now have to go and do homework...).

Today, the Big Wide World has taught me: That if you have the time, live in the moment. We only set out for a 15 minute dog walk and that spiraled into an hour! Just walking, talking and feeling completely carefree is underrated, we should do it more, especially when everything looks so pretty outside. I love Autumn, the colours are just stunning.

I think that's it from me for now, I'll definitely be back soon though, quite possibly tomorrow as we have some Halloween-style plans, but if not, I'll definitely be back around the 29th as it's my 17th birthday!!

Enjoy life,

An Inspirational Cookie

Hello, hello, hello!

It's been an annoyingly long time since I've written anything on here, annoying because I love to write and keep things logged, it's just I've felt a little uninspired recently. Who wants to hear about my pretty regular school day?! Yep... Thought so.

However, I am here and I am here for a reason, I have a reason to write! Something in my day inspired me to get back here and spread a little love.

Basically, I was getting on the bus after school, and I'd been let out five minutes early (because I'm such an ace student :P) so it was just me and this other sixth form girl getting on the bus. I've never spoken to her before, I've sat next to her on the morning bus before, but we'd never really spoken more than 'Can I sit here?'- 'Thanks'. So I definitely wasn't expecting her to turn around in her seat and offer me one of her last Maryland cookies. For a second I was quite startled, until I realised she was genuinely offering me one of the last two cookies from the packet and not just parading some delicious looking cookies in my face.

I told her she'd just made my day, which is true, for some reason it was just one of those days where I was grumpy and lots of things annoyed me, but the lovely girl on the bus cheered me up. It's strange how one tiny thing can suddenly change your opinion of a whole day.

So even though I made sure she knew it then, I'll say a blog 'Thank you' to the Lovely Girl on the bus. You reminded me of the good people in the world, the ones that don't need reason to be kind and thoughtful, that don't need a guaranteed return to make someone else smile. There are a fair few people that could do with being more like this more often, myself included.

I'd definitely put myself in a category of thoughtful people, I do care about others and how they feel, but I know I could spread a little more love here and there.

Writing this now I'm reminded of one of my favourite songs- 'What Are You Waiting For?' by Nickelback (Anyone that groans at the mention of Nickelback is no longer welcome here!). The song is completely about random acts of kindness and how one tiny thing can go so much further. Please watch it if you haven't yet, the video demonstrates the lyrics perfectly.

If you're ever losing faith in humanity, listen to this song and be reminded of the good people out there.

So, while I'm playing that song and smiling, I'm going to leave you with my pretty obvious lesson for today...

Today, the Big Wide World has taught me: That a whole day can be changed with the tiniest actions. And that goes for both changing it for the better, or for worse. Something you do for someone else may make no difference to your life, but it could make an absolute difference to their's- and I'm not just talking about offering someone a cookie here. But even just something like that makes a difference, look at me, I'm suddenly a mushy sharer of my epiphany and if you're reading this, perhaps something will ring true with you and you'll offer someone a doughnut, hold open the door for someone with a ridiculous number of folders, or buy a sausage roll for that cold looking man and dog you usually walk past. We're all capable of doing more, and why shouldn't we? For one incredibly selfish point, it makes us feel better as human beings, and surely something that makes us and someone else feel better, if only for a second, is worth doing.

Well, those are my thoughts on Random Acts of Kindness inspired by a cookie, I hope it came across okay, by no means am I a Saint in this, for anything this was written to remind and encourage me to be a little more 'Lovely Girl'.

That just leaves me to wish everyone a Happy October and to thank you for reading,
