I'm back to write about day 2 in Palma (Wednesday 24th June), although it could probably be called our first day as it didn't involve any travelling.
It started with breakfast on the boat and I tell you, there is a lot to be said for munching down a chocolate croissant whilst sitting on a boat in Palma, in the sun, with your best friends.
Later on, once we were all up and dressed, Lizzie guided us to a market to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. It was like the one in Venice, except this one was inside and distinctly less stinky as there was a much smaller 'fugly fish' section. It was quite a sight though and I actively took the kind of photos I knew I would want to add to this post. The colours just looked amazing.

We walked in the general direction of the cathedral but looked in a few shops along the way and even found ourselves looking at quite a bizarre 'art' exhibition. I'm not quite sure how the juxtaposition of cacti and skulls is art.. but perhaps I'm just not educated well enough in the art department, I didn't take it for GCSE.
The art exhibition was supposed to represent something to do with death, I guess that's where the skulls come in, but I'm still not sure what the cacti were supposed to be representing. The big mirror display in the centre made me feel a bit giddy when I looked into it and saw an endless supply of 'L's' looking back at me.

Once we were back near the boat Lizzie suggested we have frozen yogurt at her favourite frozen yoghurt place called 'Tuttis'. We decided a cool down back on the boat would be a good idea first though, it was rather warm walking in the hot sun.
The frozen yoghurt place was very cool (no pun intended!), under the counter there were pots and pots of different toppings and sauces, ranging from healthy to definitely not healthy! Whilst some of my friends had pieces of watermelon and strawberries, I went for the very healthy option of caramel sauce and white chocolate drops- I'm a sucker for white chocolate :P I had never really had frozen yoghurt before, but it was delish!
We took it back to the boat and once finished (which I can assure you didn't take long!) we changed into our bikinis for a half hour of sunbathing before we walked to Carrefour (a well-known supermarket chain).
The walk to Carrefour was suitably hot but gave us a good opportunity to look at the bigger boats moored in a different part of the marina, and for us to get a look at another part of Palma. And when we arrived we were treated to ice creams and chilled smoothies from a Haagen Dazs shop. Thanks again for those!

After we'd cooled down a bit we headed into Carrefour and chose some snacks and stocked up on food for the next few days, as we were going to sail to a few different places we needed to make sure we had enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were all quite relieved when we were allowed to take a taxi back to the boat, I for one certainly didn't fancy walking back in the heat with armfuls of shopping!
Later in the evening we went out for dinner to an Italian restaurant, naturally we ate outside. I was very pleased when the bruschetta arrived, it was my little taste transportation back to Italy. We all had yummy pizzas and pastas, but I couldn't finish my pizza so carried half back in a pizza box for lunch the next day. As we were eating we found it very difficult not to listen to the rather 'out there' conversation of a table nearby. They were a group of ladies who obviously didn't care what other people heard them saying as their language was rather 'fruity' and could have done with an 'explicit content' warning for parents of young children. It was however rather funny to listen to and they entertained us somewhat. Luckily none of us choked on our dinner when they came out with some hilariously inappropriate things.
Afterwards when we were back at the boat, we took it in turns to use the shower- something I'm glad I quickly got to grips with. I was a bit worried about using the loo and the shower as they have various buttons to press, but I quickly got the hang of it and it was fine. Once everyone was showered we all snuggled up in Lizzie and Alice's cabin (but not under Alice's duvet! ;) ) and started watching 'Gone Girl'. Meg and I had both seen it before but didn't mind watching it again. Unfortunately we only made it half way through, it's such a long film and we were all almost falling asleep so we made the decision to call it a night and come back to it another night.
Safe to say I slept well that night after all that exploring, pizza eating and pyscho watching in Gone Girl.
And that makes up the second day of our trip.
If I can find the energy and time I'll start writing up the third day, but I think I might start watching 'Humans' on Channel 4 Catch-up. People have been telling me it's good but I haven't found the time to watch it yet, and also, I think I may have been recruited to make dinner... We'll see what happens.
So, until the next post,
L
