Sniffles (2nd August)

*Sniffle* *Sniffle*

We sent Lizzie and Meg on their way today. We watched them go through security and off into the distance... I hope they had a really good time, I loved having them over. As I've said, it went far too quickly, but it was fun. The stand-out moments definitely include being absolutely drenched (multiple times), watching Sharknado and Zombeavers and of course, the jelly competition we had last night. I feel blessed to have witnessed Lizzie inhale her jelly in super-human ways, she finished like a minute before the rest of us! I'm proud of my second place title though.

This morning we went to Shoney's for breakfast. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet for $9.99. It has the traditional breakfast foods like cinnamon doughnuts, whipped cream and chocolate custard ;). I'm not joking, but there were the more normal eggs, bacon, sausages etc. There was also a hefty selection of melons and orange segments. The cinnamon Churro type things were really good though, they looked like sugary fish fingers but were like doughnut pieces. They tasted extra good with the cinnamon apples that I had. Don't worry, I had the 'normal' stuff first. Meg even went as far as having things like cucumber and spinach, she had breakfast and then lunch all in one :D.

We then went to Walmart as Dad wanted to buy a new BBQ. Lizzie, Meg and I wandered around the 'Back To School' section indulging in the uber-cheap stationary. There were packs of Crayola pencils for 25 cents! I found a 70 sheet pad of lined paper for 17 cents, I'm sort of wishing I'd bought a couple. I'll go back. I also bought a couple of packs of Sharpie pens and some other PaperMate pens, the total came to just under $12. The Sharpies alone would probably have been about a tenner! It was such good value. I'm definitely going to be buying more school stuff over here before I go back.

Super cheap stationary (I LOVE NEW STATIONARY!)
We managed to get the grill home without it rolling and smashing any windows, but it was a little hairy at several points in the short journey...

In the afternoon, after Lizzie and Meg had packed, Meg and I watched an episode of Desperate Housewives (our new thing after Sex And The City) and then at about 3:30pm it was time to take them to the airport. We also took the rental 'bus' back at the same time. We were partially expecting their flight to be delayed by a couple of hours as the flight coming over was delayed by 3 hours. Luckily it wasn't as Virgin swapped over the Manchester and Gatwick flights, unfortunate for the Mancunians, but preferable for Lizzie and Meg.

After leaving the airport we went to Denny's, another place a bit like Shoney's. I had a veggie skillet and strawberry milkshake. I have a feeling we'll be going healthy next week! We don't usually do those places more than once or twice when we're over here, so I promise you twice a day was an extreme exception!

Today, the Big Wide World has taught me: Not everything in this world is excessively priced. Good deals still exist out there! (And no matter how organised you are, there will always be that one dress you leave in the cupboard, eh Lizzie!)

Okay, that one was scruffy, but I'm full up on veggie skillet and sleepy and this has taken me far too long to write as I keep getting distracted by the TV show currently on.

Right, I'm going to bed.

NIght,
